Turmeric

Turmeric is a spice that is commonly found growing in South and Southeast Asia. It is used for curries and medicinal uses. In the Philippines it is called dilaw or luyang dilaw, while in latin is is Curcuma longa or Long Turmeric in English. Turmeric is related to the ginger family, hence it’s roots or rhizomes are the parts that are used like ginger or dried as an orange-yellow powder.

Need a Boost? Coffee or an Apple?

FACT or FICTION?  “An apple contains caffeine” or  “An apple contains more caffeine than a regular cup of coffee”

 

 

Actually, apples do not contain caffeine, but this myth may have originated from a misinterpretation. Apples are known to give a boost of energy that is caffeine-like, leading to the false belief that apples must have caffeine in them.
